Owen-Withee Area Community Expo What is it? When is it? The Owen-Withee Area Chamber of Commerce is organizing a “Community Expo” to be held Saturday, October 11, 2008 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Owen-Withee High School gymnasium. Why is the OWACC sponsoring this event? · Did you know we have a local business designing, selling, and constructing “clean rooms” throughout North America? · Are you aware that a local artist routinely sells her paintings to buyers throughout the United States? · Would you be surprised to learn that a local entrepreneur earns a substantial income caulking windows in high-rise buildings throughout the Midwest? Truth is, there is a lot we don’t know about the businesses and organizations in our area: what special services they provide, the scope of their operations, the benefits and opportunities they provide to our community. THE OWEN-WITHEE AREA COMMUNITY EXPO will give area entities a chance to provide this information. We are inviting local businesses and groups to present themselves again to our community by being a full participant at Owen-Withee’s first Expo since 1982. The Chamber of Commerce was organized to advance the general welfare and prosperity of the Owen-Withee area. The purpose of the Chamber is to promote business and community growth and development. Your Board of Directors has decided that a Community Expo is a good first step toward meeting this goal. The Expo Committee has further determined that it is vital for a broad cross-section of our community to participate, so that those who attend will realize the surprising array of resources available in our community. The EXPO format is to have the chamber contract with a professional company to set up booths complete with back drops and dividers. The cost for an 8' x 10' booth is $100 for Chamber members and $150 for non-Chamber members*. This is not deemed a fund raiser for the chamber. After related costs have been covered, remaining monies would be invested in promoting the event and those who choose to participate. *Spend $50 to become a Chamber member and save $50 on the cost of your booth. As a Chamber member you will be listed on the Chamber Web page, you can provide information to the call center to be used for referrals, participate in the WAXX Radio advertising program, vote at the annual meeting, attend exclusive Chamber functions, and also support an organization promoting business and community growth and development. Why would I want to participate? As an integral part of the community, I would want to interact with those who are striving to achieve growth and development of the community. What can I expect if I participate? I can expect to reach advertising venues that I alone may not be able to pursue. I will have the opportunity to draw from a pool of 500 people, conservatively speaking, and more optimistically 900, 1000 or 1200 people (Stanley Expo drew 3500). I would be able to stand face-to-face with those who are interested in me, my products or services, or information that I would be able to offer that would aid in future growth and development of the community.
How would my participation benefit me? If I am a retail or service business, I will have an opportunity to come in contact with potential customers and showcase my products or services. As a processing or manufacturing venue, I will have an opportunity to present myself as an employment opportunity along with information about the economic value I bring to the community. As a group or organization, I have an opportunity to present my mission and goals, and recruit new members. How much Bang will I get for my Buck? ü Businesses or organizations that purchase a booth will be included in full page ads in both the OW Enterprise, and Central Wisconsin Shopper. ü They will be a part of an intense radio saturation in the days leading up to the EXPO. ü They will be backed by a professionally-prepared showroom that will allow them to present themselves face-to-face to hundreds of interested people in a professional manner. ü There will be door prizes throughout the day. ü Victory Medical Group-Owen Clinic will provide screening services. ü Educational seminars will be presented, including the Clark County Economic Development Corporation detailing the progress of the new Agri-Business Campus. That’s a pretty good return for your hard-earned dollar!
